Health Literacy & Public Health: Strategies for Addressing Low Health Literacy

This training, second in a series, contains two sections and provides practical techniques for addressing literacy issues in spoken and written communications.  The training:

  • Provides strategies for considering literacy when creating public health messages for the general public.
  • Provides strategies for considering literacy in direct public health services to the public.

This course was launched in August 2006.  It was reviewed in August, 2015 to assess its relevance to the current public health workforce and evaluate its continued listing on the Region 2 PHTC website. The review process was based on a subset of recognized standards. In order to keep the course up-to-date, the reviewer additionally updated the dead links in the course along with identifying further resources to help learners achieve the objectives of the course.
